Children of the Bagmati

Some of them were born beside the Bagmati. Others forced to live as squatters along the polluted ‘holy’ river of Kathmandu. I wonder if the children saw the same bleak, ugly landscape I saw. Or perhaps, childhood affords a formidable armour of carefree abandon, shielding their innocent eyes from ugliness.
