		<description><![CDATA[Every year, the red-faced idol is paraded throughout Patan, and devotees bring rice, flowers and sweets to offer to the deity to pray for good monsoons, abundant harvests and blessings. Scavengers like Begam who cannot afford to buy rice, wait for the devotees' charity, or simply catch the occasional showers of rice coming from the priests sitting atop the chariot.

Thakur has been building bridges for the last 8 months, and will return to work very soon after the Dasain festival ends. The eldest of 3 children, Thakur was pulled out of Class 5 to replace his sister as a kaimaya because she had ran away. After the year-long contract ended, Thakur had no more interest in school and was compelled to find work in India to support his family." This was part of my failed attempt to do a story on migrant labour.
